The Lady Banks roses are blooming all over town. White ones, yellow ones, why even the Food Lion has one (that's a grocery store). Until I decided to get one I just never realized how many of them there are. Everywhere.
My Lady Banks, who was planted a few weeks ago, and came home looking like a tiny bundle of straggly sticks, still is looking rather pathetic and small, but she knows what she is supposed to be doing. She knows that she should be covered in blooms all over the place and be plotting world domination like the rest of her brethren. So last night, with all of her might she willed herself to bloom.
This is what we got.
Pretty cute right, in that Charlie Brown Christmas Tree sort of way!

She is looking pretty and I like that pale yellow color. I bet she will grow fast.
ReplyDeleteShe already has come a long way from scraggly sticks with her beautiful bloom!
ReplyDeleteGive her a few years and she will be taking something over.....
ReplyDeleteThey can be a little slow to get started, but be careful what you wish for. If she's happy where you planted her, she'll grow huge and be covered in blossoms in no time!
ReplyDeleteBlimey, you have the green fingers! Got a couple to spare?
ReplyDeleteOh, she is pretty and she looks very healthy! I wonder if she is what we call a 'Banksia rose' which are enthusiastic climbers too. I'll have to look it up!
ReplyDeleteI have the white variety, and it is loaded with blooms which are just starting to open. In a few days, it should be gorgeous.

Always Growing
Hi Jess~~ Ooh, give her a kiss from me! She has definitely made a sincere effort to charm you, bless her heart.
ReplyDeleteI have the white Lady. She's in-bud but no blossoms yet. I absolutely TREASURE her sweet violet fragrance. The blooms are nice too. LOL She's over ten years old and is in cahoots with her southern brethren for sure. All the world's a banksia!
Oh, bless her heart, Jess. She's adorable. You just think she's not plotting world domination yet because she's so young. ;)
ReplyDeleteLady Banks is probably my favorite rose -- although as soon as I typed that I thought of three others that might qualify. It's hard to choose among the roses, but I'd say you've made a fantastic choice for the long-term beauty of your picket fence. :)
I noticed that Food Lion's been selling more trees and things! No Lady Banks at mine though lol. I'm glad yours has decided to cough out some blooms! :D
ReplyDeleteThat's adorable! She just wanted to make sure that you didn't think she was a dud.
ReplyDeleteSome of our babies aren't so vigorous, but they are all special in a unique way and your Lady Banks reciprocated to your love with those cute lil' blooms!
